Junior Stock and Shares ISA

You can  help with  the financial future of your children with a Junior Stocks and Shares ISA. (“JISA”) Provided they are under 18 and working on the same principles as an ISA, you can build up a fund for your children in a tax-efficient way.

In the 2019/2020 tax year you can invest up to £4,368 per child. Money placed in a JISA can be accessed once the child turns 18 and at this point it becomes a full ISA, subject to the adult threshold of £20,000.

Will a JISA work for you:

Yes:

  • If you want to receive income free of tax and not pay Capital Gains Tax
  • If you understand and accept the risks of investing in stocks and shares
  • If you’re comfortable for the investments to be in your child’s name
  • If you’re child doesn’t already have a Child Trust Fund and is under 18 and a UK resident

No:

  • If you don’t understand or are uncomfortable with any type of market volatility
  • If you have a short term need for the money
  • If you’re not resident in the UK

Investment Dealing Account

An Investment dealing account does not have any annual limits, allowing you to invest as much as you want into a wide range of investments including funds, shares, bonds, ETF’s and Unit Trusts.
